Dragi moji tatatatirci

Okoliščine so takšnele:
Ubuntu 10.04 Live
Persistent owerlay = 4GB
RAM = 512MB
CPU = Intel Pentium IV 2 GHz

wlan vmesnik:
Najprej: Edimax ew7717un; čipset rt2870
Potem: Jaht wn1011u(e); čipset zd1201

Problem pa je takšen:
Doldajanje v Firefoxu, pa tudi v apt-get v dol-fazi na vsakih 5 - 10 sekund prekine za 5 - 10 sekund. Potem pa se spet nadaljuje. In spet prekine. In tako dalje.....

Problem je bil pravzaprav fotografiran v Mentolu broj 9 (Live). Ampak pojavlja se pa tudi v Ubuntuju in pa v Fedori 12.

Najbolj hecno je pa tole. Problem sem opazil samo v linuksu, nikoli pa v windows. Tega mi nikoli nihče ni znal pojasniti.

    Sem pogledal navodila. 26 točk dnevnega reda! Jejhata, jejhata, mar mora biti res tako komplicirano? Od Ubuntuja sem pač pričakoval kaj bolj človeškega. Nekaj takega, kjer ni treba tipkati ukazov v konzolitisu. Ja, nekaj takega, kar ne trpi za boleznijo imenovano konzolitis. Povsod berem, da je Ubuntu prijazen operacijski sistem, narejen za ljudi. Odtod baje tudi njegovo ime. Ampak po simptomih sodeč bi rekel, da je narejen za podivjane hekerje z dioptrijo večjo od številke čevlja.

    Za povrh imam pa še težave z vsebino paketa. Dol sem si djal tegale:

  • Se opravičujem. Malo sem trčen. Sedaj sem pa pogruntal ta dva problema. Hm, kdo je zdaj trčen. Morda pa je krivo to, da sem maloprej popil dva deci šampanjca.

    Vrstici 14 in 15. Datoteka se pojavi šele, ko izvedeš oba ukaza iz prejšnjih točk.
    Vrtsice 16,17,18. Sem popravil vrstici tako, da sem "lo" spremenil v "ra0" Sem poskusil tudi spremeniti tisti loopback na koncu druge vrstice v dhcp. Ni bilo učinka. Stvarca ne dela.
    Sem poskusil še dodati vrstici na konec datoteke. Namreč:
    auto ra0
    iface ra0 inet dhcp

    Tudi ni bilo učinka.

  • Ndiswrapper? Ja, to sem najprej probal. Ni bilo učinka. Z njim Ubuntu sploh noče poznati vmesnika.

    Aja, pa prej sem pozabil napisat tale problem. Datoteka /etc/network/interfaces. Kakorokoli jo spreminjam, po naslednjem zagonu Ubuntuja je spet taka kot prej. Vse moje spremembe kar vurže vun.

  • Nevem kaj tebi kle ni jasno..sej ti lepo piše katero konfiguracijo moraš spremenit ter v kaj jo moraš spremenit.. torej preprosto preberi kaj piše in ne izumljat tople vode in se matrat zakaj ker tam piše "Quote"

  • Mislim, da je problem čisto drugje.
    Ralinkovi gonilniki imajo hrošča. Napravi dodelijo prvi modul, ki se naloži in to je običajno rtxxxxpci.
    Ti potrebuješ seveda rtxxxxusb.
    Poglej, katere module ti sistem naloži:
    sudo lsmod

    Poišči vse, ki se začnejo z "rt" in končajo s "pci".
    Odpri /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf z gedit kot skrbnik:
    sudo gedit /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf

    dodaj za vsak modul, ki ustreza gornjemu opisu, vrstico:
    blacklist imemodula


    Pa še o prijaznosti in neprijaznosti Linuxa :P
    Poskusi v primeru za Okna šlampasto napisanega gonilnika to popraviti v konzoli. Obilo zabave!
  • Pa recimo še eno o prijaznosti. To da moraš šlamparijo avtorjev gonilnikov popravljati z ukazi v konzoli, ni zame nikakšna prijaznost. Prijazno bi bilo, če bi avtorji naredili popravljeno verzijo.
    Naprimer takole: Enkrat sem bral v hrvaški reviji Vidi. So testirali eno grafično kartico od nvidie. V polknah seveda. So naleteli na hrošča. So javili firmi. Že čez nekaj ur je bila nared popravljena verzija šoferjev. Ne, pravzaprav pa jim niti javit ne bi bilo treba. So nekaj dni pozneje videli, da objavljajo večkrat na dan popravljene verzije.

    @Poni: Tale je pa malo bosa. Nvidia zagotovo ne izdaja novih gonilnikov večkrat na dan vsak dan. Zadnji gonilniki za eno od grafičnih kartic za windows 7 so zadnjič izšli 1 mesec nazaj - http://www.nvidia.com/object/win7-winvista-32bit-266.58-whql-driver.html.

    To je tudi smiselno, saj je treba gonilnike pred izidom preizkusiti (pa četudi vsebujejo samo popravke hroščev). Primer, ki ga opisuješ, je srečno naključje. Zelo verjetno je bug nekdo poročal teden, dva ali tri prej in so slučajno tisti dan dali na net popravljene gonilnike.

    Še glede šlamparij avtorjev. Se strinjam. Napako naj popravijo pisci ralinkovih gonilnikov. Če je ne popravijo ni kriv sistem in njegova (ne)prijaznost ampak predvsem pisci gonilnikov.
    Stanje glede podpore strojne opreme se na linuxu počasi izboljšuje (vsako leto je delež podprte strojne opreme malce večji), vendar za slabe gonilnike linux ni nič kriv. Krivi so avtorji gonilnikov.
  • Brez ajvarja in majoneze pojem vse grafične kartice, za katere je Nvidia objavila popravljene gonilnike v enem dnevu po odkritju hrošča.

    Nvidia do danes še ni rešila podpore za kernel mode set (KMS). Težava je poznana najmanj eno leto. Pripravila me je do tega, da sem izpulil iz mašine GeForce 8800 GTS in vključil na plošči vgrajeni Radeon 4200. Ta deluje z odprtokodnim gonilnikom "ko puška". Med drugim tudi zato, ker so na Xorg-edgers dejansko včasih večkrat dnevno objavljeni popravki.
  • Se opravičujem. Tisto o več updateljnih na dan je bilo najbrž zgolj naključje. V hrvaški reviji Vidi so testirali eno ekstra novo in super moderno grafikuljo. Pa se jim je pri nvidii najbrž preveč mudilo, da bi čimprej prišla v prodajo. Pa so preveč hiteli s šoferji in so jih izdali še nedokončane. Pa so hitro še nekaj dni po izidu kartice popravljali in dograjevali šoferje. Zato je najbrž takrat izšla popravljena verzija večkrat na dan. Potem najbrž ni več.

    Glede mojega problemčka. Končno sem zrihtal stvar. Saj stvar dela, če le pravilno prebereš navodila in prav narediš. Naredim, bi moral napisati. Žal je stvar taka, da problem ni rešen. Saj kartica dela in celo sistem jo zdaj prav prepozna pod imenom rt2870sta. S tistimi šoferji od Fedore12 in prealienanimi pa jo je prepoznal kot rt3070sta. Torej, stvar dela, ampak delala je že tudi prej. Prekinja pa prav tako še vedno.

    Aja, glede blackliste. Na listi naloženih modulov so bili samo tile taki, ki se začnejo na rt:

    rt2870sta 557357 0
    rt2x00lib 27509 2 rt2800usb,rt2x00usb
    rt2x00usb 9703 1 rt2800usb

    Pa sem dal med "zamorčke" kar vse razen rt2870sta. Sem dal kaj preveč?

  • Vse se je zgodilo natanko tako, kot sem predvidel:

    1. Tvojemu čipu je dodeljen napačen modul.
    2. Ti boš samo na pol prebral in na veliko pametoval.
    Tole sem napisal:
    Ti potrebuješ seveda rtxxxxusb.
    Rt2870sta je povsem odveč in je najverjetnejši krivec za težave. Rt2800usb pa je verjetno pravi gonilnik.
    Torej:

    Samo to. Ostale zbriši s seznam in ponovno poženi sistem.

    Sem naredil po nasvetu matja_kae92. Dal na črno listo rt2870sta. Seveda ni potem delovalo. Naprava se je prijavila v sistem s čudno godljo številk in črk (nickname). Zgolj za primerjavo, niz je bil nekako trikrat daljši kot mac naslov. Ko sem pa dal na črno listino rt2800usb, pa je stvar pričela delovati. Če pa ni bilo nič na "črnem", pa je delovala, ampak se ni mogla povezati v brezžično omrežjo. No, gremo naprej.

    Za primerjavo in kot zanimivost:
    Ko sem imel driver dobljen od fedore 12, se je naprava prijavila v sistem kot rt3070sta.
    Sedaj s temi šoferji iz nasveta, pa se predstavi kot rt2870sta. To je menda že napredek, če je le moj podatek pravi, da ima namreč naprava Edimax EW7717un čipset rt2870sta.
    Glede prekinjanaja pa ni med tema delujočima variantama nobene razlike. Obe delata: 5-10s, pa 5-10s pavze, itd.

    Samo še eno stvar bi vprašal, če smem, ko že klepetamo o RT2870STA. Ali morda kdo ve, zakaj ta stvarca neprestano doldaje s hitrostjo okoli kilobajta na sekundo, pa čeprav nič takega ne delam. Je to spet eden od simptomov bolezni, o kateri klepetamo, ali pa je to morda čisto normalno stanje.

    Z uno stvarco ZD1201 ni takole povprek čisto nič doldajal - seveda potem ko mi jo je nazadnje uspelo pripraviti do delovanja.

    Dobra novica! Problem se je rešil kar sam od sebe. Zdi se, da zdaj nič več ne prekinja. Že nekaj tednov. Do zdaj sem bil pri SIOL-u - 1Mb/s - 32Kb/s. Že nekaj tednov pa sem na T2 4Mb/s - 512Kb/s.
    Hm, morda pa je bil to razlog za ozdravljenje. Ali pa to, da je sosed nekaj poštimal na brezžičnemu ruterju. Nikoli ga nisem vprašal, kaj natanko je naredil.
    No ja, problem je torej rešen. Najbrž nikoli ne bom izvedel, kaj je bil v resnici razlog za to prekinjanje.
    Vseeno bi se rad zahvalil za vse nasvete, ki sem jih dobil tukaj, pa čeprav z njimi nisem mogel rešiti problema.
    Rad bi se zahvalil skrivnostni sili, ki mi je pomagala in rešila problem. Hm, morda pa ji je ime Matjaž.

    Končajmo torej s tole parolo: Matjaži vseh dežel, združite se!
